Checking in to see where you’re at these days. For a year we were caught up in our opinions and judgements; in the stress of the pandemic and how the world was responding. Couple that with the elections and all the rhetoric and it was consuming us mentally and emotionally.
Spring is here, people are getting vaccinated, and the world is opening up. Our bodies are settling a bit, but the mind continues to race. There’s a lot to process as we re-engage. There’s a lot of change to embrace and there is a lot of growth to integrate.
The mind doesn’t want anything to do with change. It likes the channels it has dug out over the years and it’s totally comfortable telling the same stories and having the same repeating thoughts. It doesn’t want to shift into a new paradigm of being in the world, but we’ve all learned a little something from this and it’s our responsibility to do better.
Change is a process and it requires daily maintenance and patience and effort. Implement a mindset of presence and watch how your life unfolds. Enact an attitude of kindness and see what shifts. Act and behave consciously and see how your life lights up.
Pay attention and watch the mind with acute awareness and see what you notice. What stories do you keep telling yourself? What mindsets are so reactive that you’re blaming everyone else for everything wrong in your life? What behaviors in others are eliciting a strong emotional response? What keeps you from living your best life? What triggers you to be defensive? What makes you feel so entitled? Why the need to always be right and why the obsession to control?
Observe yourself in the world and try to be a little kinder and more open. Breathe slowly and mindfully. Take care of yourself and know that you are dearly loved and that it’s okay to let go and have faith in the beautiful changes around you.
